It is an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor developed by Servier and marketed in France in 1989. It is used clinically for the treatment of hypertension and congestive heart failure because it has a dilating and elastic repair effect on the arterial vasculature, reduces left ventricular hypertrophy, corrects myocardial hypertrophy and subendocardial collagen excess, and reduces the incidence of perfusion arrhythmias.
